urban heron

on my way to work yesterday i literaly stumbled across this grey heron on the peir side in richmond - while photographing the boats on the opposite bank he/she must have snuck up on me and ended up posing for several shots before a passing garbage truck scared him/her off - the herons are very common along the rivers and canals in the city but i have never been this close to one before and to be honest the sight made my day :)
